Posted on 2:25pm Wednesday 24th Oct 2012 A “teenage TV star” is accused of raping a 14-year-old boy as part of a campaign of sexual abuse. The 17-year-old is alleged to have orally raped, molested and attacked a schoolboy on five separate occasions at a London theatre and also at a school. The accused will appear before Highbury Youth Court on November 6.
The teenager is from the Sutton area and is alleged to have sexually abused his victim in 2010. The actor was also accused of “assault by beating” his alleged victim in last year. Metropolitan Police officers have charged him with sexual assault by touching the youngster without his consent, oral rape. He is also charged with two further counts of sexual assault and assault by beating. Neither of the teenagers can be named for legal reasons.
Posted on 2:25pm Wednesday 24th Oct 2012 The PFA have announced a six-point action plan to deal with racism in a bid to halt a breakaway group headed by Rio Ferdinand. The Professional Footballers’ Association chief executive Gordon Taylor says the union wants tougher penalties for racist abuse. There has been a big backlash after John Terry was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 for racially abusing Rio’s brother Anton Ferdinand.
It includes making racism a sackable offence and introducing a form of the “Rooney rule” (clubs would be obliged to have at least one candidate from ethnic minorities on shortlists for coaching jobs) to boost the number of black managers. It comes as the FA joined Government ministers and senior football figures in urging black players to get behind the Kick It Out campaign and abandon plans for a breakaway union.
A draft constitution for a new group exists, with players as high-profile as Manchester United defender Ferdinand supporting the initiative. He was one of a number of black players who refused to wear the special Kick It Out anti-racism t-shirt before the Premier League matches last weekend. It is understood that the players involved are determined to press ahead with plans for the BFA after becoming disillusioned with the game’s governing bodies.
