Terror suspect Abu Qatada today won his appeal against deportation to Jordan to face trial and will be released tomorrow after being granted bail. It's a huge setback for the Government which has been trying to get him out of the UK for a decade. The radical cleric, once described by a judge as Osama Bin Laden's right-hand man in Europe, has been fighting extradition to Jordan, where he was convicted of terror charges in his absence in 1999.

An immigration appeals court blocked the deportation because judges were not convinced that no evidence obtained through torture would be used against Qatada in Jordan.

Special Immigration Appeals Commission judges said the British government 'has not satisfied us that ...there is no real risk' that statements obtained under torture would not be used at a trial abroad. Qatada - whose lawyers had previously insisted that he would not get a fair trial in Jordan - was allowed to stay in Britain in 1994, but the Government desperately wants him deported.

The judge said he wanted to subject Qatada to ‘standard-style’ bail conditions and after seven years of detention, did not want to deprive him of his liberty.

The cleric will be subject to a 16-hour curfew and will be allowed out between 8am and 4pm. He will be bailed to his home address, but the court earlier heard he and his family were planning to move. Qatada will have to wear an electronic tag and be barred from using the internet and forbidden from contacting certain named people. He is being held on bail pending any Home Office appeal.

Forget hairdryer histrionics, Sir Alex Ferguson is actually Manchester United's dressing room joker, according to former midfielder Paul Pogba. Ferguson claimed Pogba was being disrespectful by leaving United in the dark over a new contract before he quit Old Trafford in favour of a £20,000-a-week four-year deal with Juventus. The France Under 20 international has made an impressive start to life in Italy but has revealed life under Fergie wasn't all that bad, despite his fearsome reputation.

He told Tuttosport: 'No, He is kind of relaxed and he’s a guy who likes to laugh in the dressing room. Of course you see him on TV all serious, but knows how to be in the dressing room. Well, sometimes he shouts, but it is normal for a coach to do so. But it was not always the case; he is more often than not relaxed.'

Meanwhile, Pogba has revealed that Juventus' head coach Antonio Conte is a tougher character than former boss Fergie. Pogba has been forced to apologise for showing up late to training twice last week. And Conte's reaction to his poor timing keeping left Pogba reeling, and insisting he will not make the same mistake ever again. He said: 'I was wrong and I'm sorry for what happened. I apologise because I showed a lack of respect toward my team-mates and (head coach Antonio) Conte.
