Posted on 9:52pm Monday 28th May 2012 Chelsea FC have won the heated race to sign Belgium playmaker Eden Hazard, who earlier tweeted to the world; “I’m signing for the champion’s league winner.” The 21-year-old has been tracked by Europe’s biggest clubs, and had tweeted early this morning that he had made up his mind where he was going but would say no more.
The Belgium has been rated at £32 million, although there has been no official confirmation on Monday evening from either Chelsea or Lille that a deal had been reached. French reports have suggested that Hazard has agreed to a five-year contract worth as much as £100,000 a week after tax.
Manchester United and Manchester City looked to be favourites for his signature until Chelsea’s surprise European Cup triumph last weekend. Hazard admitted that it was a game changer and surely makes the Chelsea squad look more menacing and dangerous next season.
Posted on 9:51pm Monday 28th May 2012 A 56 year old British mum, was caught smuggling £1.6 million of cocaine into Bali. She now faces the prospect of the death penalty, as the maximum sentence for drug trafficking in Indonesia is death by firing squad. Lindsay Sandiford was caught with 4.7kg of drugs in the lining of her suitcase. She hung her head in shame when confronted by the media cameras.
Back on the street that she once called home in the genteel town of Cheltenham, her former neighbours did not seem entirely surprised. One called her the ‘neighbour from hell’, whilst others said her two boys, now both adults, were out-of-control. A 63 year old man who lived next door to the £275,000 property where she once lived said she was evicted years ago for failing to pay the rent.
He also said that she often had men coming and going from her house at all hours of the night, and the police were regular visitors. He added: “It doesn’t surprise me at all that she’s been arrested for drugs. I don’t know what was going on really - and I suspect neither does she. Her house was burgled because she borrowed money from someone and did not pay it back. From what I remember, they gutted the place.”
