Please can you send or email a copy of your document to the Notary Public Lawyer before your appointment.
It helps if this evidence of identity, proof of address information and a copy of the document can be scanned and sent as an attachment to an e-mail well in advance of your appointment.
Obviously, each case must be different but usually for clients, the Notary Public Lawyer will :
expect you to make an appointment;
need you to bring good evidence of original copies of identity;
Generally this will have to be a current valid signed passport ,photo - card driving license, birth certificate and a Council Tax bill or or gas or electricity bill or other household bill to confirm your address;
need to be satisfied that you understand any document, particularly a document which is not in English;
want to see any relevant papers or documents that relate to the matter ;
for corporate clients notaries will, in addition to checking your personal identity as referred to above, needs to also establish that the company or organisation which you represent actually exists and that you are authorised to represent that company or organisation;
In the case of companies or organisations based in the United Kingdom, the Notary Public Lawyer will do background checks to satisfy himself that the company or orginisation in fact exists. If the company or organisation is based overseas the Notary Public Lawyer may ask you to produce certain additional documentation. These documents might include a certificate of incorporation, Good Standing Certificate or other similiar evidence. If he has to certify your authority to represent a company or organisation, additional documents might be required:
the original of the Memorandum of Association and the original of the Articles of Association of the company;
Power of Attorney;
Board Resolutions of the Company;
Chamber of Commerce Certificates; and
if a bank, the authorised signatory book of the bank.
